Planning your wedding is such an exciting (and busy) journey! Among all the details, your hair is one of the most important elements in your bridal look! Your wedding hair is an important investment in your wedding day, and should be treated as so. Finding a bridal hair specialist is one of the first vendors your should secure, and early on in the wedding planning process.
*Please note bridal hair specialist, not hair stylist

How to Pick a Bridal Hair Specialist for Your Wedding Day
Picking the right bridal hair specialist can feel overwhelming, but breaking it down into steps makes it more manageable. Here’s how I would recommend approaching it:

Start Early
Begin your search at least 12-18 months before your wedding. Wedding hair specialists book up fast, ESPECIALLY during peak wedding season.
**Peak wedding season: May- October
Research and Gather Recommendations
When looking for a stylist for your wedding day, you need to find a bridal hair SPECIALIST, not a local hair stylist or salon that do the occasional wedding. Working with a bridal specialist will ensure you achieve your desired bridal look without any stress!
Instagram is the most common platform that brides search on for their wedding vendors. The second is through personal recommendations and referrals from trusted friends or family.
Check Portfolios
Review photos of previous bridal work.... this is where Instagram comes in. Do you like the styles/work? Do the styles match what you were envisioning for yourself? Please remember, it is NOT about the amount of followers a wedding vendor has, it is about their quality of work. There is often an assumption that an artists or vendor "must only be good if they have a large following on social media". This is true sometimes, but do not judge solely based on the amount of followers a vendor has.
Schedule Consultations
Prior to hiring a vendor, I always think scheduling a consultation call is a great way to get to know your vendor better. I personally do not require them, but I often receive requests for consultations prior to booking. This gives you an opportunity to know the vendor better, ask specific questions about what you are looking for, communicate what your concerns are, and learn more about their expertise!
Schedule a Trial
A trial run is essential not only for you, but for the stylist as well. Trials allow you to see what adjustments can be made to make the style fit you and your features on your wedding day. They also allow you to test the longevity of the style. For the stylists it allows us to see if the style can be achieved with your hair length, texture, and density. It also allows us to see what products work with your hair texture and what we need to use or not use. This is also when we decide if extensions will be necessary to achieve your desired style. Trials are also a great opportunity to build a relationship with your stylist and see another familiar face on your wedding day!
