The Overwhelming Part of Wedding Planning

So you finally picked a date for your wedding! Yay! Next it is time to shop around for all of your vendors! You will see hundreds of recommendations, get opinions from other brides, look at so many different websites and instagram pages, and you will be sending out more emails and filling out more inquiry forms than you EVER thought you could during this time. It is SO important to choose your vendors carefully and look at their work if you can before you book them. This can be EXTREMELY overwhelming and sometimes frustrating. Through the use of social media, talking with other brides, and getting recommendations from your vendors, you can help narrow down the search!

I want to start off by saying that I have never been a bride or even a bridesmaid in a wedding. I had gotten into the wedding industry about two years ago and this was a whole new world. I ended up going to a bridal hair show in Cleveland just to see what different vendors there were and to get a peek into the "wedding world" and see what it was like to be on the outside looking in. I was walking among hundreds of brides at the show and I visited about 30 vendor stands (and it was such an amazing experience meeting these wonderful people!). Of course there were probably just over 100 amazing vendors, but there was no way I was able to talk with every one of them unfortunately. I bring this experience up because although I haven't had to experience wedding planning from a brides point of view, I have seen how big the wedding industry is and how many choices that have to be made.

In my two years of doing wedding hair I have learned some things that can help narrow down choices for brides. I have found that Instagram is not only a great tool for marketing, but it is also a great way for brides to find wedding vendors and see their work before making a decision. As a bride planning the perfect day, you want to be confident in the skills and abilities of the vendors you choose. You also want to be sure they are reliable and communicate in a timely manner. Instagram is a great way to not only see the work of vendors, but also find reviews (and comments) from real customers! I also love this tool for brides because you are able to follow along with vendors and get to know them and their work!

Recommendations are also another great way to find your perfect vendors. I have a lot of brides who were either recommended to me by another bride or by another vendor I have worked with! If you find one vendor you really liked and you have booked them, ask them if they have any vendors they have worked with before and liked! I recommend photographers, wedding planners, makeup artists, and so many other types of vendors to my brides if they ask me. Who better to ask than a vendor in the wedding industry?
