As a bride to be, your wedding hairstyle is one of many elements that you want to ensure you love! Finding the perfect style that fits YOU may require some research. Once you find the bridal hairstyle, it is important to think about a few things prior to your hair trial with your stylist!

Communicating what you are envisioning with your hair stylist is a vital step to ensuring a successful outcome with your desired wedding hairstyle! For a more predictable & successful outcome, there are some steps you can take to ensure you and your stylist are on the same page! I have compiled a collection of questions and tips that I discuss with my brides about prior to and at their hair trial to give you an opportunity to think about the small details of the overall look!

  • Creating a mood board:

Using a few different social media platforms to gather a some ideas of what hair style you like is super helpful (this is also great for planning the overall look for the wedding day) ! I always recommend having more than one picture of either the same style or of different styles. Ensure you have photos of the back of the style and the front so you have a better idea of what you are looking for. It is easier to see the back of a hairstyle and decide what you prefer, but it is easy to forget about what you want the front to look like! It is always best to come with a good plan and vision to discuss with your stylist!

  • Consider how you are comfortable wearing your hair:

Do you typically wear your hair up or down? Do you want to look different on your wedding day or go with something that you wear on a typical day-to-day basis? Looking at photos of hair styles and then actually wearing the hair style can be completely different! Ultimately, you want to look like an elevated version of yourself, so go with the style that means this for you!

  • Know your hair / Express any concerns you may have: These are some of the most important questions!

Think of any concerns you may have, do your hair get frizzy easily? Does is hold a curl well? Do you have any concerns with getting your hair styled? Do you like having hair around your face, or do you prefer to have it all pulled back out of your face? This is also a great time to mention if you have allergies to any hair products!

  • Veil and accessories:

Discussing veil and accessory placement is also super important because there is a lot of personal preference with this! This is a great time to ask your stylist if they have any thoughts or ideas to help you decide what to do if you are unsure. Looking at inspiration pictures of your desired style with accessories and a veil can also give you an idea of what you would prefer!

  • Take pictures at your Trial:

At the end of your trial, be sure to take pictures of the style from each angle (front, back, sides). You can look back and make notes after you have worn the style for a few hours to make adjustments with your stylist for your wedding day if necessary! Your stylist will also use these photos to refer back to on your wedding day.

Good communication between you and your stylist will ensure you achieve the wedding hair that helps to create the best version of you! Do not be afraid to speak up, if you decided to go a different route with your hair or change something, this is completely normal! Having more than one hair trial is also something that is super common! Through the use of pictures, good communication, and a hair trial, you can ensure your goals are met and you achieve your desired style for your wedding day!
