Whether you are a bride, a stylist, or collaborate with others on a daily basis, you know communication is one of the most important keys to success! Clear communication ensures a successful outcome in everything, including your bridal hair and makeup. Having the time to talk about concerns, likes, dislikes, and what works for you, is an essential step to giving the stylist guidance and helping you, the bride, to feel at ease. Trials are always offered and HIGHLY recommended by hair stylists and makeup artists for an opportunity to not only meet you, but to see what works for you and what you would like to adjust to ensure your desired look for your special day. Trials are an investment that allow you to have peace of mind on the morning of your wedding. A successful hair trial includes a strong consultation, the opportunity to build a relationship with your stylist, and discussion of any details that
need to be finalized.

Prior to the hair trial, there is some work that needs to be done on the end of the stylist and on the bride’s end. I always ask that brides come in with a few pictures of styles they like and styles they do not like. This gives me the opportunity to see what they are comfortable with and they do not like. I allocate 15 minutes of the scheduled trial time for a conversation before I start styling their hair because this gives the bride time to express what she is looking for and an opportunity for me to provide her with suggestions based on the hair type, length, and texture. This not only sets us both up for success in the end, it also allows for a more confident and relaxed experience for the bride! Taking advantage of the hair trial not only instills confidence in both the stylist and the bride, it also provides an opportunity to build a relationship.
Bridal hair trials provide an opportunity to get to know your stylist and makeup artist, the two vendors who will spend the most time with you on your wedding morning. One of my favorite parts of being a bridal hair stylist is getting to know my brides and building a relationship with them! The morning of your wedding is the first part of one of the most special days in your life, so it is just as important to have an enjoyable experience with your chosen hair and makeup artist as it is to achieve the hair and makeup that you envisioned. I also want to add that there are SO many different emotions and feelings on your wedding day and seeing a familiar face and someone you feel comfortable working with, can make you feel more at ease.
The final part of a successful trial is to discuss and confirm any final details. This can include details like:
the location the stylist is traveling to
the finalized timeline
the number of services needed
any questions the bride may have about the veil, touch ups or hair prep
I say trials (& bridal hair/makeup in general) are an investment because hair and makeup are extremely personal and adjustments will almost always need to be made to allow you to feel like an elevated version of YOU. I have worked with hundreds of brides and I have had brides who have wanted to keep everything the exact same, make small adjustments, add extensions, and even completely change their wedding hairstyle. As a bride to be, it will be one of the few times that you will invest into the perfect look, so why not ensure you will get the result you want?
