What to Consider when Choosing your Wedding Hair

Hello beautiful bride to be! Here are a few important factors to consider and questions to ask yourself as you are looking through pictures of possible styles you would like to wear for your wedding day. Often when I have clients who are not sure what they would like to do with their hair, I ask these questions to help them decide how they should wear their hair!

  • How do you typically wear your hair: Do you want to change it up for your wedding day or would you prefer a certain look that you typically wear?

  • The neckline of your wedding dress: There is no right or wrong way to wear your hair based on your dress neckline. If you have a higher neckline, buns look very elegant and clean. If your dress has an open back, wearing your hair up or down is totally based upon your level of comfort but I think half up styles are beautiful!

  • How do you feel most comfortable wearing your hair: This is a huge factor that I have mentioned earlier. This is also a great reason to have a hair preview. Looking at inspo pictures of different hairstyles is a great way to choose a style, but actually wearing the style is completely different. This is one of the most important factors to consider and a hair trial is great to help you ensure you are comfortable wearing the hairstyle that you want.

  • The weather: Unfortunately Ohio is a state with unpredictable weather and temperatures, no matter what time of the year it is. Humidity is one of the largest concerns, especially April-June.

  • Indoor/outdoor wedding: Will you be spending a lot of time outside? I typically recommend an updo or pony if so!

  • Length/density: If you have really thick hair I would recommend a lower bun, pony, or a half up style because all of the weight of your hair might hurt your head by the end of the night if you chose a high or medium height bun.
